The program for this year is taking shape. We will be holding the following events:

  • Sun 14th May (Note change of date to the 14th): A 6 hour Metrogaine starting in Peter Murrell Reserve and extending between Margate and Kingston. Preparation for this event is well underway, and we have been successful in gaining access to many private farmland properties in the area.
  • Sun 9th July: A Hobart eastern shore Mountain Bike MTBNav and concurrent on-foot event.
  • 2-3 December 2017: A bush event to be held south of Orford. We are looking at organising a 24 hour event but this is not yet confirmed.

Dates for the MTBNav and bush rogaine will be announced as soon as these are confirmed.

Australasian Championships

The Australasian Championships are being held in New Zealand's south island’s high country on the 11th and 12th of February. Entries close on the 31st of January. Visit http://www.rogaine.org.nz/arc2017/home.html

Australian Rogaining Championships & Intervarsity Championships (Ridgey Didge)

Entries for the 2017 Australian Rogaining Championships entries are now open. The event will be held 6-7 May near Cooma south of Canberra. The 2017 Intervarsity rogaining championships will also be held in conjunction with the event. Former world rogaining category champions, Ron Simpson and Jean Douglass, have set a course of very high standard.

The area is ideal for rogaining: attractive open woodlands in spur and gully terrain, allowing fast and comfortable travel, with views towards the coast and back to the Snowy Mountains. You will see the remains of 19th century gold mining activity, and you may even hear or see the area’s famed bark-eating koalas!

The ARC 2017 website ( http://arc2017.act.rogaining.org.au/ )  is chock-full of information and photos, and this is where you enter. If you are a true-blue rogainer, you’ll get along to the Ridgy Didge 2017 Australian Rogaining Championships!

World Rogaining Championships

Don’t forget the 15th World Rogaining Championships are being held in Latvia on August 18th and 19th. The organisers have promised flatter terrain and less spinifex than the World Champs hosted by Australia near Alice Springs last July. Visit www.wrc2017.rogaining.lv/en [LINK REMOVED AS NOW DEAD]. Looking further ahead – the 2019 World Championships will be in Catalonia, Spain.

You don’t need to be a “big gun” team to enter the Australian or Australasian events. There is a qualification process for World Championships Rogaines but there is often space for extra entries.  These events are a great experience regardless of your competitive level.
