Sat 2 December 2017 - 6 & 12 hour event to be held near Hamilton
This event will be in an area previously used for a most enjoyable event in 2009, midway between Gretna and Hamilton. If you competed you will have fond memories of lightly timbered undulating grazing land with occasional patches of thistle. Entries for this event will open in early October.
Sat 3 February 2018 - 3 hour (afternoon) metrogaine based at Blackmans Bay
This will be a fun question and answer event held in the public areas around Kingston and Blackmans Bay used for the recent Town and Country Metrogaine.
Sat 28 April 2018 - 6 & 12 hour event based at Rheban (Orford)
This is a particularly scenic course with a mix of farmland and bush last used in 1999. Stunning views of the adjacent coast and Maria Island can be enjoyed from the elevated areas. An extensive network of navigable tracks and beaches will provide interesting route choices.
2018 Australasian Champs
If you are interested in competing outside of Tassie please consider the Australasian Rogaining Championships which will be held in south east Queensland on 25–26 August 2018. Keep an eye on the event web site http://arc2018.qld.rogaining.org.au
World Rogaining Champs
The 15th World Champs was held in Latvia during August. The top 3 positions were won by Latvians and Eastern European teams dominated. The best placed Australian team was David Baldwin and Julie Quinn who came 51st overall. You can view the results, event map and animated tracks of many teams at http://wrc2017.rogaining.lv/en
The next World Champs are being be hosted by Spain and held 6th-7th July 2019. The event area will straddle the Spanish and French border in the Pyrenees Mountains, which sounds a bit hilly.
