The 24-Hour Tasmanian Rogaining Championships and an associated non-championship 6-Hour event will be held on an area extending from just east of Bothwell almost to Oatlands. - Entries are now open
This event is being held almost entirely on privately owned farming properties. The terrain is varied from open rolling paddocks and native grassy meadows through open forested hills and wet gullies.
The rogaine will challenge competitive teams with plenty of distance, interesting navigation and ample hilly bits. It will also offer novice entrants an opportunity to practice their navigation skills in pretty farmland and natural environments, and everyone in-between will find a great mix of terrain, vegetation and chances to spot plenty of Tasmanian wildlife.
For budding rogainers who have only entered metrogaines so far, this event will be a great opportunity to test out your bush navigation skills. The organisers have catered for newcomers and there are plenty of checkpoints close to the hash house.
Planning is well advanced and the course setter and vetters have commented on the area's natural beauty and suitability for a rogaine. For a selection of pics from field visits to date see gallery below.
